I've put them over a chronograph of a 16", 8", and 5" barrels and believe it or not, it's fastest out of the 8". Still subsonic, but 50-60 fps faster than the 16" barrel. The factory barrel on my XDm9 5.25 had a fairly short throat but this load still work great! I used a 14 lb. recoil spring since it's a pretty light load - no problems with muzzle flash either.
