I'm f in my 30s and my 70 years old mother lives in the apartment my brother bought for me when i was 10 years old cause my brother got my grandmothers house as a legacy in condition that he buys apartment for me. My parents are divorced and my mother raised me in this apartment till i finished high school and moved out.

Aita for selling my family home. I was on the original post. The kid's grandfather did leave money for upkeep, repairs -- everything. Expenses for it are covered. The grandmother is still alive and she's managing it. The grandfather clearly meant for the grandson to have it and he did have the foresight to take care of everything - quite possibly because he knew what kind of person his daughter became.

I rent out my house through a service that includes insurance when it is in use. The insurance does not cover when I lend my house out to friends and family since they are not paying. I have regular homeowners insurance for that. My brother was using my house with his family just after New Year's.
