THE BASICS OF DRUM TUNING. There are plenty of very basic drum tuning guides out there, but it’s hard to find great written advice on drum tuning.. In doing research for this article, I found that the majority of percussion books glazed over the subject, most articles painted half the picture, and nearly every web-forums was rife with inaccuracies.

Drum tuning. In order to tune your drum set, you will need the following: A drum key, a drumstick, a drum tuner (though this is optional), and most of all – patience. Drum tuning has a large impact on the overall sound of your kit. Good tuning can make a cheap drum set sound great and poor tuning can make even the most expensive kit sound bad!

For the bass drums, If you have a key in the horn music that occurs frequently, you can tune the drums to a chord in that key. Also, invest in a lot of stick tape.
