After a similar thought as you, I decided on trying to find a 2.5 NC Miata for track duty that wasn't going to be a daily driver. One thought that ultimately swayed my opinion was that the Miata being a two seater convertible was much different to my RS versus what a BRZ/FRS would be, so it would be a much different driving experience.
